May 22, 2010‘Mega Jump’ has cool graphics and sounds but I don’t really know how to control the alien guy. You launch him up in the air to collect coins and he keeps going as long as he is hitting coins. I didn’t see any instructions other than ‘tap here’ at the beginning. Worth a free download just to see him launch into the sky. I give it a C+ because it will get boring after a while http://ow.ly/1qy91R

Many of my Hearts Solo players told me it’s too easy to shoot the moon, so I upgraded my robots to be far more paranoid about that. Try it and see if they are better at defense than they used to be.
Card movements are animated. Works in portrait and landscape modes. Hearts rules enforced are exhaustive and complete. Scores are displayed hand-by-hand, showing progress over time. Very configurable. Saves your game between runs of the program. Robot players are pretty good.

I took my boys to breakfast today
December 12, 2009We got up early this morning because Steph was going to Logan to vist some friends. We started the day at Johanna’s Kitchen in Sandy. This is the restaurant where I had my first job and I’ve told the boys stories about working there over the years. That place is a complete waste now. It used to be a greasy spoon, coffee shop that had simple, down home, country cooking. Now their sign reads: “Johanna’s shrimp festival” Seriously? I assume that the real Johanna who hired me in 1988 has probably passed away and the place is struggling to reinvent itself, and failing. Chuck Wagon Breakfast is the only way to go but for $12.00 – no way. I can eat cheaper than that at any airport, gawd. Anyway, I guess the old Johanna’s will continue to live in my good memories.
As we ate breakfast the conversation turned to old people and retirement for some reason. Josh: “why are old people always so jolly?”Me: “i didn’t know they were. And who says the word jolly anymore?”
we laughed about that Josh: “what do old people do when they retire?”
Xander: “sit around an be bored”
Josh: “I wouldn’t do that. I’d travel around and look for famous people”
Xander: “old people can’t do that because they’re too old”
